If you work in public safety, you know that time is of the essence. Whether you’re a police officer responding to a dangerous incident or an EMT fighting to save someone’s life, every second counts. You need the best technology available to help you not only do your job but do it efficiently and effectively.
That’s where Brite comes into play. Since 1999, our company has been at the forefront of public safety, delivering cutting-edge technology that ensures safety, streamlines tasks, and enhances incident response times.
Utilizing a customer-focused approach, our team combines deep market insights with innovative solutions tailored to meet our clients’ needs inside the vehicle, at the real-time crime center, during investigations, or back at headquarters. In other words, whatever technology your team needs and wherever they need it, we can help.
As we reflect on our silver anniversary of serving public safety, let’s take a closer look at how we got started in this field, how we evolved, and what we’re doing today to assist those who keep us safe and well every day. Buckle up – it’s going to be a great (and safe) ride!
From Personal Desktops to Police Dashboards
Prior to delving into the world of public safety, our company started out in 1983 as Upstate Wholesale Supply, Inc., an electronics wholesale supply company. Two years later in 1985, we began assembling “white box” computers with Intel Inside™.
Fast forward to 1999, a very pivotal year for us. That year John and Justin Smith purchased our company and began doing business as Brite Computers. That was also the year that we first entered the public safety realm through an intriguing project with the Rochester Police Department.
The task they assigned us: putting a computer inside a police vehicle.
This may be commonplace today. However, computers at that time were bulky and created potentially dangerous in-vehicle environments by blocking visibility and airbags. Thankfully, Brite stepped in with an innovative mount design and the latest technology. As a result, we helped create a safe, ergonomic, and cost-effective in-vehicle work environment for officers.
And so it was that we had taken our first step forward into this exciting and rewarding new field!
Cruising Right Along
Following the incredible success of this initial venture, Brite achieved several more notable public safety milestones throughout the years, including:
- 2003 – We earned our first large-scale public safety win with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department when we outfitted over 300 vehicles with a Fujitsu T Series computer, which was mounted in tablet format for the first time.
- 2004 – Brite was awarded a five-year contract to provide computing platforms for the Nashville Davidson County Police Department (TN).
- 2008 – Our company was recognized as Mobile Solutions Integrator of the Year by Fujitsu for our work in the public safety sector.
- 2023 – We were recognized as Getac’s Legacy Partner of the Year
We’ve come a long way in 25 years. Today, Brite has a national presence with a complete mobile-tech suite featuring best-in-breed technologies. Not only that, but our Intel Center brings the latest intelligence tools to help departments find more leads faster.
